#182 - BienVenue: Cain's Ballroom | Music LM | Ticketmaster Congressional Hearing

Greg is back from playing at one of his favorite venues and decided the time was right for BienVenue. Cain’s Ballroom, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was built in 1924 and converted into a dance school in 1930 when it was purchased by Madison W. “Daddy” Cain. Host to many country western stars in the 40’s & 50’s, it later hosted early punk & heavy metal acts. It’s popularity has only grown and today it’s considered a coveted stop for bands touring across the country.

Songs:

  • Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls (1986 Live at Cain’s Ballroom)

  • JJ Cale - Cocaine (1975 Live at Cain’s Ballroom)

  • Tame Impala - “Endors Toi” (2013 Live at Cain’s Ballroom)

Jay’s on the A.I. beat this week. Google, possibly reeling from the heralding Chat GPT has received, released a concept for a music generating A.I. called Music LM. Given a text only prompt, Music LM can create complex and long-form songs. You can’t try this out yet, but we have an example page!! We dig right in and…aren’t too worried about this one yet.

Song: Bob Dylan - “Mississippi (Version 1)”

Song: Television - “Marquee Moon”
