#116 - A Love Supreme in Seattle | New Music Picks | Precedence in Jazz
A new 1965 recording of John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”, recorded live in Seattle WA, was released earlier this week and has been making waves in the jazz world. Greg brings us the story behind the original album, which was considered a masterpiece almost immediately after its initial release (also in 1965). Coltrane, who died of liver cancer in 1967, refused to play his pivotal work in the years following its release, making this new release a true rarity.
