#202 - Tales From The Concert: Chilly Willy & Tour Recap | The Dead, You Said? | Grammy A.I.
Greg is coming home from a tour with the Red Nots and on a layover in Chicago as we recorded. He could only make it for the middle half of the show of the show this week & we had some audio issues throughout, but, hang in there because it’s a fun ride.
Nick spent last Thursday in Harrisburg with longtime listener Theresa Kline (Nick’s Mom) and his boys (Ciri, Cam. and Charlie) in tow to see the Red Not Chili Peppers at XL Live. As his Tales From The Concert segment was about to begin, Greg joins the show. As we start to discuss the Red Nots stellar performance, we bring the boys on to give their thoughts.
Song: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - “Flamethrower”
Greg continues the discussion with a quick catchup from their recent tour with Badfish, the Sublime tribute band that set the bar for a successful tribute band operation.
Songs:
Sublime - “Saw Red“
Queens of the Stone Age - “Paper Machete”
In the weeks since seeing Dead & Company, Jay has continued down the Dead Head path and wants to talk discuss his journey thus far. It seems that Phil Lesh is critical and we learn there’s a consistent structure to the band’s live performances. It’s still early in his trip, but Jay is starting to see and appreciate the band in new ways.
Finally, Jay discusses The Recording Academy’s (organization behind the Grammy awards) decision on A.I. generated music. It is a vastly non-committal policy, but a human has to have been meaningfully involved somewhere in a part of the writing and/or performance of the song...there’s room for it to adapt as needed, but they put out a policy and that’s what matters!
Song: Grateful Dead - “Slipknot“
