Jay has noticed, over the years, that the year 1972 seemed particularly prolific for music. An article in the San Diego Union Tribune (“Is 1972 the best year ever for great albums?”) validated this hunch. So he posed the question “What’s the best year ever for great albums?” and we had ourselves a debate! Greg brings a strong case for 1991 & Nick devised a methodology that led him to 1970. Nick went on a Nate Wood expedition following last week’s episode and stumbled upon an incredible jazz pianist named Tigran Hamasyan. Born and raised in Armenia, with a dream of becoming a thrash metal guitarist, Tigran took to the piano at a very young age & his family relocated to California in his teenage years so that he’d have the best opportunity at reaching his potential. His mastery of rhythm and harmonic structure are something worth noticing. Hope you enjoy!
